Film funding

The film, like other forms of art, requires support from public funds for its stable and sustainable development.

The Czech government recognises the need for full-scale support of Czech film beginning with the development and production of films to their distribution. The government also supports film festivals, education, film publications and periodicals.

The distribution of funding is decided by the Council consisting of representatives of the professional public based on the criteria set forth by the law and by the Statutes (for more information please see the document Statutes of the Czech Film Fund). The funding scheme is selective and the entire process is transparent.

The Fund is an institution that grants the co-production status under the Convention on Cinematographic Co-production.

More detailed information can be found in the Co-productions and incentives in the Czech Republic guide.
